Shanghai U**** - SABISU**** DepartmentPosition: SABISU**** Deputy DirectorJob De****ion Role Purpose The Deputy Director supports the School Director in the operational leadership, student-management systems, community relations, and external representation of SABIS® U****. The role strengthens the day-to-day operational effectiveness of the school, enhances parent and community confidence, and ensures a professional public image, while maintaining effective liaison with U**** at the operational level. The post operates entirely under the authority, leadership, and line management of the School Director. Key Duties & Responsibilities 1. Operational Leadership & School Coordination • Provide strong, visible leadership of all non-academic operational functions across the school. • Ensure the smooth daily operation of logistics, communication, facilities coordination, student services, and support systems. • Serve as the primary operational liaison with U****, ensuring clarity, alignment, and effective cross-organizational communication. • Support the School Director in the planning and execution of whole-school events, operational projects, emergency response protocols, and strategic school improvement initiatives. 2. Admissions, Marketing & Public Representation • Actively support Admissions and Marketing operations as directed by the School Director. • Participate in school tours, Open Days, recruitment fairs, and external education events. • Represent SABIS® U**** with professionalism, confidence, and consistency. • Maintain warm, professional, and reassuring communication with prospective families. 3. Media & Reputation Management • Support the School Director in the school’s media presence and public communications. • Ensure that all sensitive, strategic, or high-impact communications are approved by the School Director in advance. • Ensure SABIS® brand integrity and reputation are actively protected. • Model professional discipline and discretion in all public-facing communications. 4. Student Management, Behaviour, Well-Being & Leadership 4.1 Student Management & U**** Student Boarding Office (SBO) • Oversee the effective daily functioning of the Student Management Department to ensure high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality, discipline, conduct, and safeguarding. • Work closely with the Student Management Coordinator (SMC) to implement SABIS® student-management systems consistently, enforce uniform and conduct expectations, and manage follow-up procedures and parent communication. • Liaise closely with the U**** Student Boarding Office (SBO) to safeguard student welfare, ensure behavioural consistency between boarding and campus life, and align routines management and student supervision. • Ensure coordinated safeguarding between SMC, SBO, and Academic Leadership. • Monitor fairness, consistency, transparency, and procedural integrity in all disciplinary and conduct matters. 4.2 Student Life Organization (SLO) • Provide oversight of the Student Life Organization (SLO) to ensure leadership development, student engagement, teamwork, and service learning. • Work closely with the Student Life Coordinator (SLC) to plan and supervise student activities, events, and leadership programmes and ensure health, safety, supervision, and student wellbeing. • Ensure that SLO activities strengthen school spirit, support a positive student experience, and align fully with SABIS® educational and student leadership philosophy. • Monitor consistency with SABIS® expectations and whole-school student-management ****works. 5. Non-Academic Staff Leadership & Support • Oversee the deployment, supervision, and professional conduct of non-academic staff. • Ensure clear roles and responsibilities, smooth inter-departmental cooperation, and high operational service standards. • Support the School Director in staff wellbeing, communication systems, and the maintenance of a positive staff culture and morale. 6. Parent Communication & Community Relations • Maintain consistent, high-quality parent communication systems. • Support the School Director in building trust with families and strengthening home–school partnerships. • Promote strong community relationships with local education partners, community organisations, and strategic external stakeholders. 7. School Culture, Environment & Professional Standards • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment aligned with SABIS® values. • Actively support whole-school events and community-building initiatives. • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, child safeguarding, conduct, and care across all school operations. Position Summary The SABISU**** Deputy Director plays a central role in strengthening operational systems, student management, student leadership structures, and the public-facing functions of the school. The role ensures strong daily operational coordination, high-quality student care and behavioural standards, effective leadership of student life and community engagement, clear U**** operational liaison, and a consistently professional, trusted, and confident public image of SABIS® U****. All responsibilities are exercised under the authority and leadership of the School Director, supporting the long-term stability, performance, and reputation of the school.
