Position: Learning Partner Assigned: Primary School and Secondary School Reports to: Department Principal and Head of School Contract Days: Three-year initial contract, 200+5 days per year Band: Education Support Staff Working Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Scope of Responsibilities Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Learning Partner (LP) assists in the teacher’s implementation of the daily classroom learning programs. The LP supports student learning by taking on clerical and organizational tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher, allowing them to increase their focus on the students and their learning. Supervision and management of students under teacher direction is a second component of the LP’s responsibilities. This includes monitoring individual students, small groups or a whole class group under a teacher's supervision. Student management outside the classroom requiring attention to all aspects of student safety and well-being would also be expected. The Learning Partner takes on additional specific duties related to the efficient operations of the school as assigned by the classroom teacher and/or school leadership to provide a well-organized, safe, clean and smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the teaching and learning program and available resource materials. Responsibilities and Expectations The LP is expected to be responsible for: * assist the classroom teacher to prepare the classroom environment and instructional materials. * assist in the confidential management of student information including collection of assessments and reports, documentation of attendance, and storage of information. * provide quality supervision of students during arrival/departure, in the lunchroom and recess duty on playgrounds and sports fields before and/or after school, during recess breaks and in transitions as required to maintain order, safety and security. * Actively assisting with supervising students during emergency drills, assemblies, outdoor play, transitions, and field trips as directed by the teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Counselor, Operations Manager or Head of School. * actively managing the transition of students safely between buildings and classes as directed by the teacher. * actively assisting in the supervision and/or teaching of students with * after-school activities as directed by the school leadership. * help students or groups of students solve problems and report behavior issues/concerns to the teacher when necessary. * work with individual students or groups of students across all disciplines in order to support teacher instruction and student learning. * reinforce skills previously taught to individual students including conferring with students and facilitating interventions. * assist with logistics and translation in inter****s with speakers of Chinese during school events and activities. * assist with translating English and Chinese during field trips and parent/teacher conferences as required by the classroom teacher. * interact with students, parents, teachers and school staff in a positive and supportive manner. * maintain tidy and organized workspaces and learning spaces. * photocopying and collecting materials for instruction and learning as directed by the classroom teacher. * communicating and completing paperwork (e.g., maintenance form, purchase orders, field trip application) with the school office. * filing necessary documents and notices. * assisting in daily routines as directed by the teacher - i.e., taking children to and from the bus, toileting, feeding children when necessary. * Managing time efficiently to maximize tbandime on key responsibilities. * attending meetings as required by the leadership, including relevant school-wide meetings. * performing additional duties as directed by the Head of School. Professional Growth and ****uation The Learning Partner will be assessed in the context of the following major responsibilities: * assist the teachers to provide a quality learning program. * assisting in the supervision and management of students to monitor and maintain a safe environment for learning and activities. * communication and interpersonal skills. * work ethic, punctuality, and attendance. * assist the teachers to manage resources and materials for learning.Required Experience, Training and Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field with at least two years teaching experience. 2. Fluency in English and Mandarin with excellent knowledge of oral and written English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension). 3. A strong team p**** with good interpersonal skills. 4. Support the school Mission Statement and Vision. 5. A motivated person who shows initiative, reliability, leadership, and a strong professional work ethic. 6. Learning Partner experience with western pedagogy in accredited schools offering inquiry-based programms will be considered a strong asset. Additional Desired Qualifications: 1. Previous experience in an international school 2. Previous experience in an IB school
