Position: HR Director
Seeking a HR Director who can bring fresh ideas and a progressive approach to the organization. This person will be based in Shanghai, China, reporting directly to Global HR VP based in the US. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the HR team for Asia Pacific which includes Greater China, Korea, and Asean. The successful candidate is person who will be able to balance both strategic leadership and tactical HR support to the Asia Pacific business leaders.
Responsibilities:
Partner with Commercial, Engineering, and Operations leaders to assess needs for their groups and initiate HR programs to drive better performance and employee satisfaction.
Provide leadership and direction as well as mentor, coach and direct the work of HR Asia Pacific team.
Act as a team player by partnering with other regional HR leaders and the global HR team to strategically plan and implement HR goals and objectives.
Lead, direct and oversee the development and implementation of HR strategies and programs as approved by Global VP of HR.
Provide input into localization of corporate programs to suit local business environment, keeping up to date on all local employment legislation and advising as appropriate on changes to local legislative requirements.
Partner with managers to sustain effective performance management and ensure employee development for continual growth.
Ensure that recruiting, on boarding and retention processes attract and retain the talent needed to meet business objectives.
Direct the development and execution of policy and procedures for employee relations, staffing, performance management, and employee development to maintain HR compliance and best practices, taking into consideration local cultural and best practices.
Provide managers with a key point of contact for employee relations, talent review, performance review process support, staffing planning and monitoring, performance management and progressive discipline support.
Build rapport by interacting effectively with employees at all levels and demonstrating awareness of differing employee needs.
Required:
BS/MBA in business or a behavioral science and/or equivalent is desired
8-10 years of working knowledge of HR functions to include: employee relations, staffing, compensation and benefits, leadership development, organizational development, etc.
At least 5 years experiencein a HR position in a western multinational company is required.
Knowledge of HR labor regulations and laws in above listed countries as well as company policies/procedures
Ability to manage a dynamic growth environment is essential to success.
Strong HR generalist experience; be willing and able to handle both tactical HR operations responsibilities as well as strategic work with the business leaders
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office tools, and Oracle system
Proficient in both English and Mandarin in oral and writing
Ability to travel
Preferred:
HR experience supporting a dynamic Commercial business
Ability to demonstrate good judgment, effective influencing skills, and strong assessment and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and identify issues, recommend solutions, and lead change/improvement initiatives is another important facet of the role
Ability to work with ambiguity in a continuously changing/matrix environment
Cultural competency that enables effective working relationships
