You are responsible for
oDevelop and execute filing strategies for design patents in China for all of Philips businesses in China, with the goal of providing optimal protection and generating maximum long term value to Philips.
oWorking in collaboration with global IP&S and business colleagues to enforce Philips design rights against infringers.
oPrepare and file high quality design patent applications meeting international standards.
oBeing able to draft and prosecution patent applications, and maintain a substantial and active prosecution docket of Chinese and foreign patent applications.
oProvide strategic IP counseling to internal clients, including negotiating and drafting agreements with IP provisions such as strategic collaboration, joint development, licensing, and mergers and acquisitions.
oAssess and manage third party IP risks. When necessary, seek to obtain access to third party IP rights at the lowest cost possible for Philips’ products and services.

An international community of experienced and highly trained IP professionals with a wide-ranging of technical expertise. You are acting as a strategic advisor in IP matters to Philips’ businesses and research organization.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
oAdmission to practice before the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, or the European Patent Office;
oAdmission to practice law is preferred;
o5 to 10 years of experience in handling IP matters, including extensive experience in filing and enforcing design patents such as:
Preparing and filing design patent applications in China and abroad,
Handling IP litigation and administrative enforcement, with an emphasis on design patent enforcement,
IP licensing,
IP risk assessments,
IP valuations,
Contract drafting and negotiations;
oExcellent command of written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese is required;
oA proactive, entrepreneurial, business-oriented working attitude and a proven understanding of the commercial value of IP;
oStrong analytical and organization skills;
oExcellent relationship building, influencing, and negotiation skills;
oThe confidence and communication skills to operate at all levels both internally and externally.
