JOB PURPOSE: To provide oversight and direction to the Auditor-in-Charge (AIC) role and internal audit engagement teams to ensure internal audit engagements are being performed in accordance with established audit processes and methodology.


JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for directing the work of multiple AICs in China and globally throughout the scoping, planning, execution and reporting phases of audit engagements and managing the overall timeliness of completing the engagements.
•Typically, the Project Manager will be responsible for concurrent audit engagements and will serve as the primary liaison between the Audit Manager and the internal audit engagement teams.
•Additional responsibilities include performing the initial quality reviews of all work product prepared by AICs and engagement team members to ensure consistency across the methodology and audit processes.
•The incumbent will be assigned to audits that span a wide variety of subject matters, such as accounting, operational, information technology, and complex “white-space” audits.
•The incumbent will be expected to perform the following duties under the supervision of an Audit Manager:
· Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the audit methodology and supporting processes
· Manage project plans to ensure key milestones are delivered timely for assigned audits
· Review work completed by the AIC and ensure adherence to audit methodology
· Review audit reports and assist with ranking/rating of observations for results reporting
· Actively participate in all critical meetings during planning, execution and reporting
· Provide performance feedback and coaching/mentoring to AIC and staff auditors
· Assist the Audit Manager with audit scheduling issues and concerns
· Maintain strong working relationships with Division Risk Managers and/or Business Resources Managers
· Serve as risk consultant and actively participate in, and at times co-facilitate risk assessment discussions
•Together with the other Project Managers, the incumbent will help to preserve the audit methodology, including change management for any updates. Project Managers are expected to serve as subject matter experts in their line-of-business, and must stay abreast of emerging risks that impact Caterpillar.
•The Project Manager will participate and support Audit Managers in ongoing risk assessment discussions to evaluate audit areas for inclusion in the Annual Audit Plan. The incumbent may also receive a variety of special assignments such as assisting with department activities related to training and department meetings.
•Extensive global travel required (up to 60%) with no restrictions.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
•Requires a Bachelor’s degree.
•10+ years of professional experience desired with exposure to international operations.
•Prefer 5 years of previous audit experience required with at least 3 years in an audit execution leadership role.
•CISA, CISM, CIA, CCSA, CFSA, or similar audit certification preferred.
•Licensed CPA or public accounting experience highly desired.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate with and lead discussions with Caterpillar senior managers, directors, and/or VPs.
•Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, along with good listening skills. Very good planning, organizing, and analytical skills are essential to this position along with the ability and desire to learn quickly.
